Department Overview

The Westfield Police Department provides law enforcement services to the Village and Town of Westfield 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department is staffed by full-time and part-time police officers committed to maintaining a visible presence throughout the community while responding quickly and professionally to calls for service.

All officers undergo extensive hiring standards that include physical fitness evaluations, psychological assessments, drug screening, comprehensive background investigations, and state-mandated police training. Officers attend accredited police academy programs and continue annual in-service and specialized training throughout their careers to remain prepared for the evolving needs of modern law enforcement.

The department works closely with local, county, state, and federal law enforcement partners to address criminal activity, traffic safety concerns, emergency incidents, and quality-of-life issues affecting our community.

Community-Focused Policing

The Westfield Police Department embraces a community-oriented policing philosophy centered on proactive problem-solving, relationship building, and maintaining a strong visible presence throughout the community.

Our officers conduct regular foot patrols within the business district, participate in community events, provide traffic and pedestrian safety enforcement, and work directly with residents and business owners to address concerns before they escalate into larger issues.

During community events and seasonal activities, officers maintain a highly visible and approachable presence to help ensure public safety while fostering positive interactions with residents and visitors alike.

The department also supports school safety initiatives and works collaboratively with Westfield Academy School, organizations, and community stakeholders to help provide a safe and welcoming environment for students and families.

Vacation and Property Checks

The Westfield Police Department offers vacation and property checks for residents who may be away from their homes for extended periods of time. Officers periodically monitor registered properties to help identify suspicious activity and provide additional peace of mind for homeowners.

Residents interested in participating in this service are encouraged to contact the department for additional information.
